Museum of Illusion

Hey Friends!

Have you guys heard of the Museum of Illusion? I have not until recently. I was watching a T.V. show and they ended up going to one in New York. It looked really cool and I wanted to check it out. I got on the computer and found one in Washington D.C.. I had to wait about a month for an opening because it is by appointment only.

Finally the day came and we headed to D.C.. We did get there a little early because you never know what traffic will be around the city. We ended up exploring and found ally ways with lanterns hanging. Of course we had to take pictures!

We headed up the stairs and were taken to a room were some of the employees were waiting to explain how the exhibits worked. There was a lot going on in one room and I’m glad they had people to direct and explain because it can get overwhelming.

There was the big chair to make you look small and the person standing next to you were giant. There was the room that makes one look little and the other look big. There were a few more but I don’t want to tell every exhibit.

After finishing up in the first area we wandered over to another area and got to experience some more of the illusions. It does remind me of a please touch museum if anyone took there kids to one of those before. They had the room that you have to lean to be standing straight (that one made me sick). There were also a few games to try.

Before we left there was the tunnel that you walk through and the outside spins around. You would have thought I learned my lesson in the leaning room but nope I went through it anyway and was completely sick. I had to sit for a little while while the kids explored.

The museum lasted about 30-45 min and it was too early to head home. We walked to the Starbucks to see what else we could get into. After looking at where we were and all the other museums, we decided to walk the few blocks to the Museum of Natural History.

If you guys haven’t been here it is definitely worth the trip. We started out in the fossils and I’m sure there is a better flow but when the kids are excited you kind of follow them to each exhibit. There is so much to see here and we spent well over four hours exploring and wandering through the exhibits. This was the perfect pair to the beginning of our day.

If you guys are close to the Museum of Illusion I would definitely recommend checking it out. However if it is farther than a 30min drive each way check out other things to do close by so you don’t feel like you spent all your time driving.

With Love,

Jamie
